Nobody is sent. There's no dispatcher, no rotating pool of casual labour, no second van of people you haven't met turning up behind the first. The two who walk your house before the move are the two outside at a quarter to eight, and the same two still there at six putting the wardrobe back together.
Which matters more than it sounds. Careful is a habit, and habits belong to people, not companies. There is nobody here to have a bad day on your furniture.
You will want to help. It's your house, there are only two of us, and standing still while we carry your life past you is genuinely difficult.
Please don't. Not because we're precious about it, but because we've spent years learning the order things come off a truck in, and a third pair of hands changes that order.
Make tea. Point at where things go. Tell us which box has the kettle in it. That's the most useful you'll ever be on a moving day, and we mean that kindly.
